LIVE Video Blogging: 5 Tips and Advice
Thinking of creating “Live” video broadcasts for your business? Here are 5 tips to make you stand out from the rest!
Whether you use Periscope, Facebook Live or any other similar app, it is important to understand that “Live” video blogging is a one-time event. There are no “do overs”. Here are some ideas that may help add a more polished look to your broadcast.
- Plan! Plan! Plan!
Know what your message will be, topics that you want to discuss, and understand the target audience that will be watching.
- Write a script
Even the best orators write down their speech ahead of time. No one wants to look foolish as they struggle to find words while talking. Write a short script or jot down notes on a card.
- Be in a well-lit space
If you are out doors, natural lighting should do. Avoid shadowy areas if possible. If you are indoors, make sure to focus some kind of lighting on your face. Avoid being in front of windows where the harsh light can wash out your image. Your viewers want to see you!
- Make sure they hear you
Good, quality audio is key to any kind of video production. The use of a pin microphone is always the best option, but if you don’t have one, you should at least be aware of the noise around you. Avoid interior spaces that have an echo or other conversations in the background. If you are outside, wind and traffic noise can interfere with your audio quality.
- Limit your movement
The more you move around, the more chance of your video quality taking a nosedive or just plain stopping. If your broadcast requires you to walk or pick things up, use slow paced movements. This will help preserve the image quality and general flow of the live event.
A final thought about ending the feed. Make sure you end it on a logo or product. Ending the video with your face usually results in an unfavorable image that might make you cringe! Have fun with video blogging and remember these tips for better results!
